Bri and Paul are one of those rare couples who met in High School and ended up married! Best friends for years, on July 7, 2017 they decided to tie the knot at Kanata Golf and Country Club in true 1920's fashion.
I first met Bri while working at my last tech firm and was so happy to be a part of their special day as their event consultant and day-of coordinator. Little did I realize that I also knew Paul through his niece Maddy who I volunteered with for Habitat for Humanity—an organization that both Bri and Paul proudly support. In fact, Bri and Paul have such a passion for the organization that it was on a Habitat for Humanity work site that Paul proposed to the woman of his dreams.
A couple as in love with the Roaring 20's as they are each other, they planned many unique vintage details into their day down to their custom outfits. Take a look at all the beautiful details below, captured by Bri and Paul's good friend Christa Madore.
The day began early for the gentlemen donned their top hats as they visited a beautiful church in downtown Ottawa to recreate a photo from Paul's Great Uncle's wedding. Paul, Brandon (Best Man) and Tobias (Bri's son) are all featured below!
The ladies started their day at the Brookstreet Hotel with a champagne toast, French pastries and a lot of laughter and excitement for the day ahead.
Lesley and Megan, both friends of the bride, also had a great time getting the bridal party ready for the big day as the Makeup Artist and Hair Stylist. Below are some photos of Amanda, Angel, Shawn and Charlie getting ready with the bride.
As we stopped by to check in on the bride to be, we noticed that Bri had 3 pairs of shoes for her magical day!
The ceremony took place inside on a rainy day at the golf course. A yellow wreath on an empty seat was also a beautiful and touching tribute to the bride's mother.
Kathryn Peate of the Woodroffe United Church led the beautiful ceremony set against a custom backdrop created by us at & Always Events, Bri and Paul finally tied the knot!
Next the bridal party posed for a group photo before taking some family and friends pictures outside in the rain. Check out these gorgeous shots reminicent of Charlie Chaplin's "Singing in the Rain!"
Bri, Paul and I created this delicious signature drink which was served at cocktail hour, celebrating not only Bri and Paul's loved ones who were not able to be there.
As the reception began, the guests admired the ceremony room that had now been transformed into a 1920's Speakeasy. Below are some of the hand-made details Bri and Paul created for the event! The 4-course meal was soon served leaving lots of time to hit the dance floor.
After some lovely speeches from the best man, the maid of honour and a close friend, it was time to cut the cake. Paul's godmother, Leslie, created this beautiful cake and pie for the wedding and staged it on fabric from Bri's late mother.
With her hair up and ready to dance, the bride and groom shared their first dance to a mix of Frank Sinatra's "Cheek to Cheek," "Sing Sing Sing" by Benny Goodman," and "In the Mood" by the Glen Miller Band. The crowd was awed by a routine practiced for months before the wedding at the Fred Astaire dance studio. In a surprise twist, the bridesmaids helped Bri detach the bottom part of her dress for the last two songs of the dance!
As the dance floor opened for the evening, it was clear that the event was a great success and the floor was busy all evening thanks to Quality Entertainment.
Congratulations Bri and Paul! We wish you a lifetime of happiness as you begin the next step of your journey together.
